What’s the story with Technorati lately? Or should I say more specifically My Technorati?? Now I know they’ve been re-vamping the site over there in Technorati land – and it’s looking pretty good I have to add! What first clued me in that they were doing that? Well OK…..My Technorati link down towards the bottom of the right hand side went from a small graphic to one about eight times bigger, before morphing once again into a completely new graphic about four times bigger than the original. I also gained a secondary link “Blogs that link here” and a smallish graphic “snapshot” of my own blog. Erm……why?? Why would I need a snapshot of the blog that I’m ALREADY LOOKING AT ANYWAY????

Now there, no doubt, some sort of “user preference” ability that will allow or disallow the snapshot graphic. I mean there’s bound to be, yeah? I went to the site to check it out and I was immediately drawn to this fact – culled from my own details:

78 links to The Speckled Band – Yeah, not bad…..But check out the “last updated” info……12,961 DAYS AGO?????? Man, I last updated this blog at the start of 1970???? I HAVE been slack! I’m surprised that people stayed around all that time for my latest post? I should also add that I’ve put in my official claim for THE VERY FIRST BLOG EVER TO APPEAR ON THE INTERNET!!! Way before all of those “A-listers” like…..well, you know who they are! Heck, I mean some of them wouldn’t have even been born! I wonder if this will automatically rocket me into that hallowed group? If I do I’m taking some of you guys with me! Of course you won’t be the first blog on the Internet, like mine, but still. Thank you, thank you! I am a legend!

The next thing I have to find out about is that whole “Technorati Rank” thing? I mean it seems self explanatory….but then is my ranking 21,810 out of what exactly? Out of a million? Five million? Thirty million? It’s a bit arbitrary. All I can tell (from my own statistics) is that I’ve had 81,429 hits this month, and 113,072 all up since I’ve been blogging over the past 3 months. That’s not too shabby!

Also, how many others are “Technorati Ranked” at 21,810? Is it just me, or 100,000 of my closest friends as well? Maybe everyone’s at the same number? I’d do some checking myself, but I’m a little dubious since that “12,961 days since updating” bizzo? Maybe I’ll just have a bit of a poke around though and see what I can find out? If it’s anything interesting I’ll put it up on here.

Ohhh yeah, and Tom Cruise is an ass elf!
